New Mexico State
University, State Climate Program,
Enhancement Initiative, 2004 Legislative Session
Serving the agriculture and economic needs
of the State of New Mexico, the New Mexico Climate center consists of the State
Climatologist, Dr. Ted Sammis, and a group of dedicated students that maintain
an automated network of climate stations operated by government and private
organizations in the State of New Mexico. The New Mexico Climate Center
maintains a web site at http://weather.nmsu.edu
that processes climate data daily and makes it available to the public in text
and graphical form. New Mexico State University lacks the personnel to continue to provide
the education, research, and professional training in climatology and the use of climate information in water resource management. This legislative initiative for $270,000 on
a recurring basis will allow NMSU to become a Center of Excellence of Climate
Information use in water resources management. For further information, please
contact Dr. Ted Sammis, Professor, Agronomy and Horticulture Department, New
Mexico State University, Tel (505) 646-2104, e-mail: tsammis@nmsu.edu. Please
support this initiative with your signature! Please mail to Dr. Sammis box 3Q New
