Limitations and Safety

1.     Copper tubing should not be used for acetylene connections.  Copper and acetylene can combine a form an unstable compound.

2.     The air supply should provide a minimum of one cubic foot per minute at a minimum pressure of 30 psi but not greater than 90 psi.  The air should be dry and free from oil and dust.  If using an air cylinder make sure that is compress air and not oxygen or breathing air.

  1. It is important to change the acetylene tank if the pressure in the cylinder falls below 75 psi.  If the tank is not change when the pressure drops to this level, acetone may be carried into the burner regulator and damage the valves and/or tubing.
