Monitoring Work Group

.The Monitoring Work Group will utilize the following indices and factors (among others) to determine progressive

drought stages and recommend specific State response to individual drought episodes:

• Precipitation Palmer Drought Severity Index
• Surface Water Supply Index
• Water Well Levels
• Reservoir Storage
• Crop Planting & Harvesting Considerations
• Daily/Extended Temperature & Major Streamflows
• Precipitation Forecasts
• Public Water Supply Conditions

The Drought stages for the Palmer Severity Index range from Normal to Alert depending on the duration and value of the index.
