White Grano type. Developed from TEMPRANA and Yellow GRANEX. Released in 1996. NuMex CRISPY is firm, has a deep granex shape, and excellent white color. It produces well either from fall-seeding or from transplanting. NuMex CRISPY is a firm, crisp, low pungency variety with excellent quality. As a white variety it tends to be somewhat susceptible to some of the pathogens that cause skin diseases. We have had good results with NuMex CRISPY by planting it on the more sandy soils. NuMex CRISPY has an excellent tolerance to pink root.
